USB key frustration

I often have to transfer audio files between my "audio" computer & my "internet"computer - no big deal with a USB key... except that every time I insert the key with Sonar running, when I go to export the audio to the key it's not listed in the available drives no matter how long I wait. Each time I end up having to do the File>Export audio>choose drive routine twice before the USB key is listed. Note that this will happen long after windows itself has identified the key and it's visible in My Computer.

I would startup SONAR after you insert the key rather than while it is running. Also, you could just export to your local drive and THEN copy it to the USB key, no?

Another option would be to just network the two systems together with ethernet.

I would as a test just change to another directory in the dialog, and then back again, to have it refreshed. My guess is that drive is showing then.

Doubleclick yourself into any directory, and then up one level to get back.

I often get similar results that files copied are not listed, and this routine fixes it. These things are cached and might need refresh.

This is also a good suggestion to try first. I probably erroneously figured this had already been attempted, but by all means follow this advice before resorting to mine

This did the trick, thank you.

I should have mentioned this occurs in time-critical situations where people are waiting for the audio for broadcast, so every second counts; I didn't want to have to close down Sonar where i'd just recorded the piece, then re-open it, or do any unnecessary transfers.
