yamaha rs7000 and p5v2

Hi everyone,
1st post and hopefully not my last...........

I'm getting a powerful pc (hopefully p5v2 with your recommendations) and a softstudio/workstation very soon.
I've been a yamaha rs7000 user for almost 3 years and love it for what it can do but would like some decent sounds.
I've tried p5v1 demo but got frustrated with it and have had some success with reason3.

What drew me to p5v2 was the thought of auditioning/mapping audio on one or two tracks for song structure ideas (with the help of the cells?). Then midi recording using the included instruments(not to mention other vsti's).
I also hope that if I record some of my own audio, I can easily select a start/end point and acidize the result/loop without having to use other prgrams.

As for midi, I'll have a controller keboard and the rs7000 midi info going into a midi merger then into p5v2.

This for me seems to be the way forward and if all this is possible, I think p5v2 would be all I need.

If there are experienced softstudio users out there who feel I should be looking at some other program please be honest. I've written a few lines for explanation but bottom line is.......

RS7000 sequencing - PC PROGRAM (p5v2) for sounds and on screen editing.

At the moment the thought of using p5v2 seems too good to be true, the rs7000 would basically be my midi controller.
No-one able to help me to take this further?
Is there a demo to download, if so what are the restrictions?

Hi Mark, and Welcome to the forum.
Try this link to download the P5 ver. 2 demo.
I also recommend the Sonar 4 Demo!!!!
I believe this link to the P5 Wiki should be added (once you click on it...) to your Browser's Favorites menu, insofar as you will find it very useful.

a bit confused at the moment tho.hope the manual is good!
could you give me some feedback on my first post please.
psynII with some fx is quite special, can't wait for my new pc, my laptop froze!!! flicking through the presets.
think i'll have to go to a music shop for a demo but i find that they know naff all and they'll end up trying to sell me live5 or something.I've only got £250 to spend so I wanna get this right....
so some advice and pros and cons on my original post would be appreciated even if the feedback has been said over and over again.
My style and tastes are very similar to mylo's dj sets.though he's prettydamngood.
I'm prettydamnaverage but with practice and the right software..........

    Hallo,

I also have a RS7k and I'm using it with P5. I love the sequencer of the rs7k so I synced it with P5...works fine for all live things, also at home with a little mixer. If you know your rs (I think you do!) then you have the power of the rs + the sounds and the sequencer from P5. Think of P5 as an additional unit, when synced, you press play on your rs and p5 is just in time - or you press play in P5 and the rs is in time. If you don't need more, this might be the right thing for you.

    Say Huves,
Not sure what tricks you know with the rs7000 using p5 but I do have some great ideas, exellent midi files/grooves that you might want to share.
I am getting a new desktop PC in December so p5 will have to wait, I can send you some r2p/r3p grooves or reason3 stuff for now though.
