Mackie Onyx 400f

Here I am all ready to buy a MOTU 896HD then I go to the Mackie web site. The only thing I don't like about the 400f is the lack of gain knobs for inputs 5-8. However, I can live without them if the Onyx pres do their job. I know there's a question in here somewhere. :) Ah

How do the Onyx preamps compare to those on the MOTU? How well does the 400f get along with Sonar?

    It's too soon to tell. I don't think the 400F is even shipping yet. And even when it does I'm sure there will be bugs in the driver for a while.

    Sweetwater lists it, but doesn't give an indication if it's in stock or not. Music123 and Woodwind & Brasswind have it "on order". Have you used any of the other Onyx mixers? I just want an idea of how the preamps compare with MOTU's.
