post retired, remixing. thx

Did some tweaking and lowered the levels a bit.
It's a guitar oriented song so thought I'd post
it here in the guitar forum. Really enjoyed
mixing the guitars in this.

[edit] 8/23 post retired, remixing

All harmony guitar leads, rhythm guitar, bass and
drums played by me. A friend of mine played the
single leads. Written, recorded and mixed by me.

I like your song overall, the lead guitar kicks butt. Here's some of my thoughts:

I don't care for the percussion or bass though. Are those midi instruments? Why not use smart loops or something else? Same with the bass, it doesn't sound like a live bass.

I think the rhythm guitars should be up in the mix a bit.

It sounds like a mono mix - why? If it's stereo, try taking advantage of the sound field and spread the rhythm guitars out a bit.

Overall, as I said, I like the song composition, guitars all sound good. I'd work on the bass and percussion and mix.

rmorter... Thx very much for your suggestions. I've
heard the song so much it's hard to tell what it needs.
I love the idea about spreading the rhythm guitars out.
I'm gonna try that this week and see what it sounds
like. Yes right now the rhythm guitars are pretty much
centered. As for midi instruments, none. It's all
guitars through a POD going direct. I always physically
play all the instruments while recording. I never program
anything cause i want a live feel. I'll look into the bass
and drums, yes they could be better. Thx again for the
honest critique and glad you liked the tune!

    Best Regards,
