But the installer stopped me from doing so. I really don't feel like I want to go through a complete challenge-response registration only to get some FREEware working.

Really? You need a challenge response for the freeware? That's kind of annoying. I already own Amplitube so I went through that process, but I must admit I'm not a big fan of that method (although it's better then PACE). I wouldn't expect it on a demo...

I was already very skeptical about "free" stuff from IK, since one had to go trough a similar process when registering SampletankFree that days. I had to re-arrange a song completely since the plugin refused to work any longer and the registration form for ST1free disappeared when ST2 was released...very annoying behaviour for a freeware...

I have both ST and STfree and I've been able to reinstall both but I can't recall whether STfree made me go through all the challenge/response stuff.

But now that's the last straw having to give my full personal details and address just to get Amplitube Uno running.
It maybe a good plugin like the other stuff from them, but I'm done with IK...

You should let them know, if you care to that is. I've worked as a software consultant for companies small and large, and at some of the small start-ups I actually visited our clients and spent a lot of time talking with them. It was quite revealing and I realized that back in my office I was not as clued in to what was going on in the minds of our users "in the real world". Feedback, negative or positive, is really critical to improving that situation. There are no guarantees, of course, and you may not directly benefit, but if everyone provides constructive criticism then it can only end up being good for one and all.

FWIW I rather like Amplitube. I still end up playing directly through my own amp setup outsdide of my DAW on many occasions, but when I do monitor/record through my DAW I inevitably use Amplitube. I guess our willingness to deal with the trials and tribulations of using a piece of software is proportional to how much we want it :-/

There's a free (i.e. "lite") version of Amplitube, denoted with the suffix "UNO" (which sounds rather melodynian to me).

Thanks! I've been dying to hear Amplitube and decide for myself how it stacks up vs. Guitar Rig. (I hope I don't like it, as GR2 upgrade is already on the way LOL.)

What's 'in' Amplitube UNO? I can't see any info about it and don't want to give them too much info about myself before I knwo what to expect...
