Pyro 5 won't burn CD's

I just upgraded from Pyro Plus to Pyro 5 and it's definately a dissappointment. I see why there isn't a demo, no one would upgrade! Maybe this version should be called Pyro 4.5 (with bugs) and have an upgrade price of $9.95? Besides feeling slightly ripped off, I can't even burn CD's.

Since I previously had Pyro Plus installed, I first uninstalled it and then installed Pyro 5 without any problems. When I tried burning a CD using Pyro 5, it failed just after the status bar would display "Preparing Disk", no other messages were displayed, it just stopped. In Pyro Plus, after seeing "Preparing Disk" in the status bar, Pyro Plus would then start recording each track, finally completing the process and displaying the message "Unloading Disk" in the status bar.

I then uninstalled Pryo 5 and reinstalled Pyro Plus and was able to burn CD's again. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

-Ron

I would recommend contacting Cakewalk technical support directly. This is a user to user forum, and I don't think many people are seeing what you are seeing -- I know for me, Pyro 5 is burning disks just fine (Plextor CD burner).

I had teh same problem with Pyro plus. If you have any other cd burning software installed they can change your registry setting the control your writing to no try regedit
    Then

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CAKEWALK MUSIC SOFTWARE\CAKEWALK PYRO\5.0\OPTICAL DRIVE DATABASE
Now click on your CDRW or DVDRW drive. If the Values for any of these categories are set to No, change them to Yes by double clicking.
Or you can try unistalling all of teh other programs and reinstalling pyro. I just caution you to be very carefull when changing registry items.

    Unfortunately No,

Cakewalk Tech support has been very accomidating, but they haven't been able to fix the problem.

Tech support submitted my system information (CDRW make model, etc.) to their "Gear" programmers who will review why my CDRW doesn't work with Pyro 5.

Hopefully I'll here from them soon.

Though my CD-R/RW drive is listed as supported by Pyro 5, I cannot burn CD's either. The GEAR software that Cakewalk support had me download will not find my CD burner either to create a *.log that they wanted to "see about the problem".. I noticed that the GEAR software was no longer available on the Cakewalk Support FTP site (MISC Folder)... Pyro 5 just will not work for me. I have tried everything, even flashing my Drive with the latest "flash update" from the mfg. - did no good at all. I have EZ Creator Platinum and Adobe Audition 1.5, both burn CD's just fine, NO problems at all. The Adobe even puts the CD name, artist Names, track names and other data and displays it on CD players that display CD info... I AM NOT pleased with Pyro 5 at all... it just don't work with my NEW high level computer (Less than 6 months old) and dedicated to music creation!
