Cakewalk Plasma Midi Help Please!

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place. I posted a long time ago in a different place with a different problem.
I've never had any trouble recording MIDI to an audio file, but now I can't do it at all. I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing works. I can record MIDI files to Audio files using a mic, but I get crappy quality. Can anyone help?

    A little information would help. What program? What are the exact steps? What happens? Do you get an error message? What message. While it may not be a hardware issue, we might need to know what soundcard and your computer specs.
