Have you read the tutorials? Plug your microphone in to the microphone in jack of your sound card. Open a project or create a new project. Choose a recording template, i.e. '16-channel multitrack', 'normal', 'MIDI only'. If you choose a MIDI only template, right click on a track and select 'insert audio track'. Expand the track so you can see the audio record meter. Click the 'R' button, but note that if you have your speakers on, you may get feedback, which can damage your equipment at too high a level. Talk, or sing and adjust the level until it just gets into the red. When you're ready to record, click the red record button on the transport toolbar at the top of the screen. Greg

I agree with all of that except the just get into the red part, I would suggest never letting the signal get in the red, keep the levels near 0 on the meter, then use compression and master limiting to get the volume up at a save level with out risking clipping.

You're right, Rob. I still think like I'm using an old 4 channel mixer going to a reel-to-reel. RED BAD! Greg
