MPLS/STP Users Group Info!!!!!

After a brief hiatus (summer obligations, travel and children), the MPLS/STP Sonar Users Group is back!!!!!

We will pick up where we left off with the commercial recording project.

We will also be having a few clinics related to recording that many of you may be interested in: A Groove Tubes clinic, a general Q & A session for those that do not use Sonar, but other apps i.e. Project 5, home Studio, Ableton, Reason etc.

We will also be starting a miusicians network to help people get others involved in thier projects.,

The times are still the same, first and third Mondays, second and forth Wednesdays and if there are 5 of any day in a month I'm going home to stare at my wife and children

The location is still the same, as is the time : AGB, 227 Snelling Ave N, St. Paul, Mn. 7 PM is the meeting time with the actual meeting starting at about 7:30.

Now my question is: can somebody from Cakewalk send me Brandon for a day or so? I really would like to have him run a clinic on the advanced features of Sonar and Project 5 that I don't use regularly.

If Ya missed it here a brief breakdown.

Tonight we talked about how to get the most out of your software.
We talked about the built in effects, including the use of Phasing in mixing and how it can bring out certin things grouped in a mix. We also talked about multi band compression as well. Thats all I can think of for now. I'm sure 7XL can fill in the gaps.

As usual, Dirty Ricky forgot a few things.

This was our first meeting afte a brief hiatus for the summer while I took care of a few things (mostly spending time with my children). We picked up where we left off, discussing the things that are most vital to music and sound reproduction.

We discussed building your own sound absorbtion panels for about 20% of what they sell for. Getting the most out of your software/hardware by exploring the possibilties of what can be done with what you get for "free" in Sonar. Parallel signal processing and side chaining were also of great intrest to the group.

Trolek added quite a bit of info on the "mixerless concept" from his personal experiences during the summer.

We also had a brief overview of the massive live sound / recording rig that I'm in the process of building and how Sonar is the core of the system ( the flexible bus architecture and a MADI system are all you need).

The overall meeting was a great success. In the near future we will be doing some on site live recording and mixing using nothing more than Sonar and a mouse (OK, a trackball and a control surface).

Machine Gun Ghandi, Dan, Howard, the Glory Family and all those that helped me celebrate "11 years into the gap and 22 years of happiness" thanks for one of the most memorable times of my life. I Luv You Folks.

We also discussed the current state of this Board and the Sonar forum in general and the deplorable actions of a few that have chased away of some of the great professionals that we had to draw info and wisdom from.

With that said, I hope to see some happy new faces next Monday for the next meeting.

    I just wonder.......

Will Mr. Moon (new dad) be there?
