Burak tries pop music!

I usually don't try stuff like this, but what the hell; I said :)
Recorded and mixed in Sonar 4PE using digi 002R.
Guitars rhtym with Telecaster using Adrenalinn2 and the solo Les Paul via POD II.
Drums and Bass samples and loops from sonicfoundry and smartloops.
Keyboards Vsampler, plugins are onboard Sonar plugs.
Not mastered (obviously) just maximized.
Open to suggestions about the songwriting, performing and mixing etc..

I was thinking more Freddie Goes To Holywood meets Pink Floyd. The song works form wise and all. It sounds like it need some mix work but I can't help you there.

Santana, Neil Diamond, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Pink Floyd are all great artists IMHO.
    I'll take these as compliments

I liked it! Do you use your fins to play all the different instruments simultaneously?

I'm an axolotl, i don't have fins, but legs like you.
My advantage is I have both gills and lungs

The vocals have commercial appeal. The song flows ok.
The song i feel needs more of a hook though IMO. The
mix needs some work too. Overall, good job.

The chorus(?) at 0:52 is too short-phrased: sing singsing sing thump thump thump thump. Need more melodic motion, and just using the words you have you could add a melisma up a fifth to the E, go into falsetto if you need to, and make the voice a kind of melodic fill for itself. One way to make more of it, anyway. The second instrument that entered, a high bass?, was weak compared to the good sounding drums and then strong guitar. Could you double it or triple it with something else. Not anywhere near my field, so disregard all comments if you wish -- just trying to be helpful within the limits of my experience!

Aw, man! I hate starting a listen, and then finding that the newer mix is posted further down. . .

Okay, I'm on the new mix now. I think I would've preferred to split the difference on the bass, but I guess there's plenty on this mix. And I don't think the mix is as bad as everyone is implying with all the "fix the mix" comments.

I actually found this an interesting track and composition. What's your usual genre?

I started as a rocker, then turned into a singer songwriter with Americana feel
BTW I listened to your material before, you have great chops.

As M said, it is an interesting composition. I like stuff that is a little out of the norm. I suggest that you simplify the drum track. To my ears it is way too busy. I favor a "keep it simple and give the instruments space" approach. Too many drum fills take away from the dynamic structure of the song. Try steady beats with fills just before major changes in the song. That way when the drums do a fill, it is more effective.

    Thanks guys.
I am redoing the track with Turkish lyrics and revised drums and i changed the second line of the chorus (an octave higher), a little out of my range, but we'll see.
    I'll post it shortly.
