Could someone tell me how to write individual track numbers when burning a CD when its a continuous live CD without having silence inbetween tracks, how is it done? thanks

You just need the right software. I know Sony CD Architect can do that and I think Nero can also. I have used CD Architect before and what I did was make one big wav out of the entire album and then zoom in and use the insert Track ID in CD Architect to put the track IDs exactly where I wanted them.

Using a tool like that is also a great way to do hidden tracks and space between tracks that make the display go backward like a count down.. very cool stuff.

Cakewalk's Pyro can do this as well. Not the hidden track stuff, but continuous live performance seperated into CD tracks.

Most software can do this... in Disk At Once mode. Track at once will always add the 2 seconds of silence.

Do I understand correctly, if I use disk at once, it doesn't have to be a continuous wave, and there won't be the silence inbetween?

Not always.. it depends on the software there is not direct connection between the 2 second gap and what write method is used. Some software will leave the gap even in disk at once mode. The trick is to be able to insert one big wav into the project and place the track IDs at will and ALSO burn disk at once, you should always use disk at once anyway even if you want a 2 second gap.

True, it's software dependant. I should qualify that the Disk at Once thing applies to the software I've used including EZ CD 4,5,6 and Nero 4.5.
