What are you connecting to it?

Is it a single mic, or through the rear line inputs?

yeah then inputs on front are mono left and right only

As been said, to record a stereo signal you have to use both inputs on the front (or the back). Then you have to chose the stereo input in Sonar's track or console view.
To record a mono signal you just use one ot the inputs on the front (or the back), left or right. Then you have to select the corresponding mono input in Sonar's track or console view. If you select the stereo input, it will record from both left and right and since you don't have anything plugged into one of them you will only hear signal from one of the channels.

Yeah, so when you set up the track to record the audio, set the input on that track for right or left of the firewire 410, whatever one the mic or instrument is plugged into, not stereo input. Then you will get a mono signal, instead of a stereo signal with audio only on one side of the stereo track.

Sometimes when I am recording, I forget to set the input for whatever channel my mic is plugged into, and I see the wave with two lines(stereo recording), and audio recorded only on one side, which sounds like what you are seeing.

    Hope this helps....
