New song - This Plan - Please feedback on the mix and song

I have just released a new 'old' track. The song was originally written about 15 years ago and has been given a new lease of life by Sonar and a slightly different arrangement. I am pretty happy with the mix, which the vocalist, Russell Outlaw takes the credit for, but would really appreciate some feedback. Feedback is invaluable to us, especially when it comes to mixing as we are still at the bottom of the learning curve!

    I'd never know that you were "at the bottom of the learning curve".
    Not bad really, and some things are pretty cool, like the guitar tones.
    The vocals are good, but would benefit from a tad more compression. they're either too loud, or too soft in places.
    I thought the drums could've had more balls.
    good tune, well played, and it has a nice retro sound.

    Really like the guitar tone/phrasing of the intro.Acoustic sounds real nice as well as the song kicks into the verse.Song sounds well constructed/mixed to me.I like it!Nice job!

    Thanks mewsician, some constructive things there, One of the biggest struggles is to get the vocals to sit right in the mix. I think we are improving with time though as we get ideas and feedback.

    Nice tune man. Like the way it builds. I agree about
    the vocs, they need to be balanced out. The mix needs
    a little work but overall very good effort. It can be
    a really cool track with some re-mixing.

    Thanks pluto, I think I know what you mean about the vocals having listened to it again. The vocals are always difficult for us to get them to sit right in the mix. Any advice? More compression? Thanks for listening.
