The future of the original Dimension

Will there be one? New Patches? New sounds?

Do I call what I have now "DimensionAmateur"?

I want to upgrade. But will this really be a "new instrument" for me?

Guess I'll be hanging around here for reviews.

    Bump.

I hope P5's Version of Dimension doesn't become like Dr-008 in Sonar 1 , DS-864 in P5 ver. 1...You know, Forgotten but not Gone.

or is that gone but not forgotten?

I suspect that Project5 will continue to ship new versions of the product using the same (or slightly enhanced) version of Dimension that it has always had, while Dimension Pro will always be an upgrade path for those that hanker for more powerful Dimension.

But my question remains: How will the next version of Project5 handle installation if I've upgraded to Dimension Pro--will it give me the option of not installing the lighter version of Dimension?

Thanks friends. I hope you understand that not everytime we'll be able to answer questions about "the future of...". That doesn't mean we don't read them, nor that we don't get the 'indirect assertion' behind all those questions Please don't understand the lack of answers as a lack of courtesy.

We can split our knowledge about the future in three parts:

The part in which we don't know the answer, as it has not been extensively discussed, agreed and etched-in-stone yet, or is surrounded with uncertain technical details. Naturally, we can't talk about that part, noteven with our beloved customers.

There's another part that we do know, has been extensively discussed, agreed, etched-in-stone and cleaned of technical blah, but we can't talk about it to avoid our competitors to know what we're doing until it's too late (ha!). We're generally dieing to talk about this part, but still we need to avoid it.

Then there's that third part we can talk about. It has a few millimeters width, but well

But my question remains: How will the next version of Project5 handle installation if I've upgraded to Dimension Pro--will it give me the option of not installing the lighter version of Dimension?

Well, I don't know about this part for sure, but I can guess that if current 2.0 installer allows you not to install Dimension, next version will do it as well

    Cheers,

Touche. I think this is the natural outcome of a P5er watching Dimension going slightly out of the spotlight.
However, when you feel bad about that, just compare Dimension versus what the Project5 competition is offering as 'star' synth.

Then you'll see that you can't use the word 'amateur' for Dimension. It's already taken :)

Hee hee...that's funny! Of course, I'm die-hard Cakewalk fan so I have no idea what the competition even offers...

    Thanks all for the response.

I am actually very happy with the original Dimension. It seems like I have all the sounds I'll ever need.
Then this "Pro" thing comes along and makes me wonder..........

Nah, I'm still cool with my Dimension.

I guess that means I'm not upgrading but I'm sure Cake hadn't seen the last of my moolah.
