CPU Useage High?

I have an Abit board, 800 FSB, P 4 2.8 with 1.5 gig ram - I'm assuming that is enough power for the small recordings I do - correct?

But I noiced the CPU useage last night with just 1 guitar track only. With Sonitus reverb I get around 22% - with Perfect Space it jumps to over 50%.

I've been searching the forums for settigngs and did this:

ExtraPluginBufs=256

Anything else? I know perfcet Space will be more but mercy - am I not tweaked enough here? I've "music-tuned" my XP box.

What are your latency settings? If you're mixing audio, then you might not need low latency. Also, reverbs take lots of CPU power, depending on the algorithm used and the quality settings. Also, did you disbaled Hyperthreading in BIOS? I found that doing that, the CPU power used for audio effects is more stable with my P4 3 GHz.

Bingo - you nailed it!!! -

My latency settings were set when I was doing some MIDI work - when I set it to the middle my CPU went down to less than 18%. This is all new to me.
