drums - strings clipping

Hoping someone has had a similar experience and can help. I am importing individual tracks into Sonar from a Motif (Motif 6 Classic) and an MPC 2000. These are hooked to an MAudio MobilePre USB which is hooked to my computer. My problem is with drums and strings (and an occasional bass line). All other sounds register great but strings and some bass lines are very faint and have nowhere near the presence they had when on the Motif. Drums on the other hand do the opposite (espiecially snares). They sound loud and much harder than on the MPC. Is there any way to regulate these so they come through more like they sound on the Motif or MPC? I use the Sonar meter but I am already at both ends of the scale (drums are toned down to max - strings are toned up to max)
