Audio Recording Problem

I hope someone can help me. Whenever I record a vocal or guitar to an audio track, my soft synth tracks record to that track too. How do I keep everything else from recording on to the new track?

    Turn off "what you hear" in the sound card mixer window, and input monitoring in the software
