Perfect Space Case

Finally got my Producer 5 upgrade.
So far so good....
Just checking out all of the goodies and can't seem to get Perfect Space to function.
After hearing everybody rave about impulse reverb I am anxious to hear it myself.

Thanks in advance for the help

Doode, what's going wrong? When you say it doesn't function, what does it do? I had trouble finding it at first because in the dropdown menu for effects it's above all of your little submenu choices and I wasn't really expecting that. Dunno if that helps you or not.

I insert it on a track or in a buss and send to it but no change in sound at all.
I go to the page where you select 3 impulses and choose some.

How do you make it work?
Sorry if this seems idiotic but that's all I've got so far.

Hmmm....so you go to the little icon of in the top left hand corner of the blue part of the screen and click to load an impulse? Do you see the wave form in the blue part? Can you click on the toggle for the "wet" dial? Try just inserting it directly into a track and see if that helps.

    waveform does not show up.
I am not at the studio now, so I am going from memory.
When I load an impulse, it is looking for 3 "samples" i think.
I tried a few different ones that sounded like big rooms.
a few of them were "omni" distant type.

I will dig into it a bit more tomorrow and see what I can come up with.
It sounds like it will sound good if you know what I mean.

    Thanks for listening

    Hey, no sweat.

I think you are going about it differently than the way I've been doing it. Keep in mind, I just got Sonar too and I haven't, like, read up on this or anything ;) In fact, I'm not in front of the software now either, I'm actually studying for finals. But, from memory, I can say that you and I are doing things differently because it never seems to want 3 of anything from me.

If you look at this screen shot:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/sonar/Perfectspace.htm

Check out the little blue graphic near the top left - directly to the left of the title of the preset. The graphic looks like a piece of paper with the corner folded over. If you click on that and browse for your impulse you should be golden.

I hope that works for you, man. It's a cool little plugin.

So that's it? Just pick an impulse file?

    1973 "A" neck.

    I'd rather be playing Bass:

Yes, it can be as simple as picking an impulse file and if it sounds good, sticking with it.

There are many parameters that you can change to adjust the overall sound, though. Perhaps the most important are the wet/dry controls.

What I like to do is to switch off the dry and then adjust the parameters to make the wet sound like I want it. Then, I blend the wet/dry together to suite.

Yeah, that's how I've been doing it too. Really, though, I haven't spent much time with it.

I've been remastering all my old work with PerfectSpace. I really haven't had to use it too much because it's so simple and effective from the start.

Probably the single most efficient plugin that I have (not CPU power, but sheer ease of use).

    Best,

It definitely worked so I feel like an idiot for asking such stupid question.
Now that it works, and sounds awesome, where do I go for more impulses?
Thanks again for your help folks.

Dude, don't sweat it. I was looking for a way out of studying anyway. If you want more impulses go to www.noisevault.com. There's a SONAR user named cAPSLOCK who has made a great number of impulses, and seems to really have a good grasp on the theory as well. Definitely wanna download anything with the name cAPSLOCK attached to it. Also, the Lexicon impulses are well-liked around here.

    Have fun,

    John
