Splitting tracks

hello all,

just a quick one.
i have recorded some new tunes using GT Pro 2 and wondered how I could do the following.

-one of my guitar tracks has too much work on it, and rather than rerecord i just want to cut some of the playing out of the track at certain points of the song.

ie recrecord silence over the original track to give it more room....

does anyone know how to do it?

on my old four track, i just used to press play and record to record silence at the right moments.....

please help!!!!!

Go with the split option. You can then drag the ends and cover some of the playing which would be non-destructive.

Look at the icons on the left in the mix view. There is a cut/sissors. After clicking, click on the wav that you want to cut, where you want to cut. Now you'll have 2 clips one right after the other. Then you can mouse over the edge of one of the clips and drag to hide the portion that you do not want to play in the mix.

You may want to zoom in on your track so that you can really see where you are cutting the wav.

Also, if you don't care about what you are removing. You could zoom in and set a marker at the start and end of what you want to remove. You could then click in the ruler between the markers to select that portion of the wav and you could hit delete. You could also simple hold down the alt key and select the portion of the wav you don't want and hit delete too.
