amplitube or other effector delay

Hi,
many sequencers feature plugin delay compensation that put in time various tracks being processed. Then I think that complex alghoritms like amplitube (or the likes) suffer a audible delay. Is it true or the delay of such algoritms is however not audible?
Imagine I have P4 3.6 with 5ms latency card.
