Upgrade to Sonar 5 from Sonar 2??

I've seen some posts in the past touch on these things, but I have a couple questions. Cakewalk just started a deal to get Sonar 5 (Studio) for $79 ($20 off normal price). I'm currently using Sonar 2. My system specs:
- AthlonXP 1700
- 512MB RAM
- multiple hard drives
- WinXP Prof
- EMU 1616M card

1 - Given my system specs (that seem to barely meet system requirements according to Cakewalk's website) would you recommend upgrading to v5 Studio? I have no problems with Sonar 2 for what I use it for.
2 - Has anyone found any issues running v5 on a 32-bit OS?
Thanks.

Hey, as the saying goes "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
If Sonar 2 is all you need then save you money to build a bigger, nicer PC system.

I do have the E-Mu 1616M CardBus for my laptop and I just love it. I has a good clean sound.
    Best to ya.

I believe that you will be fine running Sonar 5 on Windows XP. The vast majority of users are still running the 32-bit version of Windows and I believe there are lots of folks using Sonar 5 on it. As to whether you need it? Probably not, altough the Sonitus effects come with Studio now, so that is rather compelling. I still use Sonar 1.31 and I will be ordering version 5 quite shortly to mix an album. My primary interests lie in the Sonitus effects, the ability to export broadcast wave files, and other mixing niceties that version 5 brings to the game. Other than that, Sonar 1 records audio just fine for me.

I'd say you're pushing it pretty close, especially with regard to the CPU:

I use a 1.8 Ghz Pentium 4. V-vocal and Perfect Space would definitely bring things to a crawl fairly quickly, but the core program runs fairly effeciently even with it's enhancements - I think I can handle about as many of the same effects now as I did when I started with Sonar 3.

I thought I was the only one (actually I have 768MB RAM, but still working the old XP1700).

I'm on 3 but soon upgrading to 5--big workflow enhancements. The word I get is BIG workflow enhancements.

But I do also agree if it ain't broke don't fix it--think about why you want to upgrade before you do it.

If your pc is trimmed for audio you can do it.
Sonar doesn't use much horsepower or memory
    It's the plugins.
Sonitus aren't CPU hogs, at all.

"Mastering" plugins and Synths are the reason for more CPU and memory.

I don't know how you survived this long without the bussing improvements in S3.
