hi there folks
hi there folks.........
yesterday i received the update from cakewalk HSH 20004 xl to Sonar 4xl
and registered it over the phone with cakewalk
a few days ago i bought a book call Sonar 4 ignite
in tthe book they say to open the synth rack and use TTS-1 and when i open the synth rack TTS-1 is not there
is there something to do to see it?
also when i load the midi template
i go in a midi track i don't see the input and output nor the bank and etc
is there also something to do to be able to see them?
are the vst installed when i installed the program or is there something to be done to install the vst fonction?
is the sonar 4 xl supose to read WAV or is there something to do to be able to read them?

When you install Sonar there is a list of options and checkboxes,I have a feeling you left the TTS-1 unchecked.If so,you can go through the install proceddure again by inserting the disk,but uncheck everything that's already installed and check the missing synths/plugins.

Are you loading a template for a synth you already have?
are the vst installed when i installed the program or is there something to be done to install the vst fonction?
Sonar 4 doesn't come with any VST instruments,just an adapter in case you do.If you have or plan on getting VST plugin or instruments,you'll have to create a folder for them and run the VST adapter and set it to that location,then perform the scan function.Most of this is in the manual.

Of course Sonar reads and plays back .wav files.Are you having trouble with that?

hi Michel, try to do this go to option-midi then actived the in&out of your soundcard

in the synth rack, did you click the plus sign to pick an instrument? When you click it you geta list and TTS will be in the list there...
For synths/midi in general, you need an audio track thatis assigned to the synth and a midi track also assigned to it. Read the manual. it will explain how to set this up...

Try doing Shift+F. The two tracks that get inserted when you load a soft synth are usually not expanded and you think they're not there. Shift+F will give all your tracks equal space and you'll then see them.

yes you'r right, by clicking the plus sign you will see the DX instuments list,and then click on the DX instuments you wish to insert.

hi again folks
i found how to fix this
also when i load the midi template

at the bottom there are 4 botton if i click on advance i see everything
as for the VSt when i installed that function the VST started to search for VST and never finish the task and was standing there like a lump on a log
so i install again and din't use it so probly why it's not showing

hi michel.at this time i will try this way: first, go to option-midi- then highlight the in&out of the midi soundcard,if it's blue it's active. next go to option-audio-general-advanced-drivers then highlight the in&out of the audio soundcard,if it's blue it's active.

since it says that sonar 4 xl had the vst
i check on the disk 01 and it is 4 xl.........
i formated the computer (had too many junk in it anyway) and reinstalled the program ...........
when i started the installation i double check fot vst or tts-1 and nothing was there all the boxes were checked
and the installation went on i installed the whole thing the 3 discs......
when i started sonar a box apppeard asking if i want to check if i had vst i cllick on ok an it says there was'nt any
then went back and open the synth rack and click on the + ....
there was
dreamstation DX2
Dyad DX1
edirol VSC
rxp
rgc: audio/ SFZ and SQUARE1
no TTS-1
also when i choose my sound card midi output (realtek ac97 1 in ...1 out that what it said when sonar did a check on my sound card)
when i choose the realtek for output the program ask me to select an output or continue without an output
then i choose the tascam output wich is us-122 then sonar reconizes it

TTS-1 is only included with SONAR Studio or Producer versions and I believe that you have SONAR Home Studio ver 4XL (Home Studio never had SONAR in it's name until this latest version). You may also find that the book is also only talking about the full Studio and Producer versions.
Home Studio 4XL does have the VST adaptor that allows the use of VSTi's (VST Instruments) but the soft synths included are the VSC, Dreamstation and Sfz and all of these are DXi's (DirectX instruments) so you won't see any VSTi's unless you buy them.
Your Realtek audio is a chip on your motherboard (no MIDI)and I would advise you to never select it. Yout Tascam US122 is a LOT better. It has MIDI in and out but unless you have a real hardware synth on the end of the MIDI output you won't hear anything. Check out the Home Studio help file, the tutorials included with SHS and (at least for this topic) the SONAR Ignite book for explanations on using soft synths - just substitute the Edirol VSC whenever the TTS-1 is mentioned.

thaks for the solution ...(time 2 go)
if TTS-1 is not there i wonder why they make us or even the store suggest us to buy the ignite and don't tell us about it ,,,,,,,,,
at least now i know that it,s not there and i can use the edirol VSC........
since i wa new to Sonar and the book said i tought cakewalk would send me the wrong version of Sonar......
now i can keep learning with the ignite as long as it doesn't tell me to do something else that doesn't exist LOL
