serious midi problem please help!

I am using sonar 3 producer ed. with a tascam fw1082 as my control surface and interface. i cant seem to figure out how to get sonar to control playback of my mpc2000. i got the midi out of the 1082 connected to the midi in of my mpc and ive pretty sure ive tried every midi sync setup in sonar. i dont know i must be missing something. someone who has a similar setup please help!

Check the options of the MPC to see if there is a remote start/stop option that needs to be enabled. I don't have an MPC but most other hardware sequencers I've used ignore remote start/stop midi commands by default.

yea ive tried that. im trying to set sonar as the master and my mpc as the slave. i had it so that the mpc recieves mtc message that sonar sends. but the s$I! aint working. i did it fine when i had my roland vs1824. With the roland i had it so that it controlled playback of my mpc via midi timecode messages while it recorded the audio. now im tryin to do the same with sonar but it aint workin. it seems like sonar aint sendin no midi messages because the midi out signal lights on my control surface aint lighting up. Someone help!
