Wont record in Cakewalk, although I can Aim for R.

Hey there. I had cakewalk HS for a long time, and this summer i bought a better soundcard to my new pc, since the pc's standard soundcard couldnt work with audio or edirol sounds. So I bought a EMU 0404 soundcard with Proteus X software, and things worked perfect, I don't use Proteus X or the other programs which followed, since I create music the classic way, = I compose it in Cakewalks staff mode. And I could easily through my PHONIC (w. phantom power, 48 V.) mixer record in Home Studio, with my electric guitar and TSM microphone.

But then the soundcard broke down, and now I got a new EMU soundcard, and it all works fine, both Proteus X(which I really don't use) and Cakewalks HS 2004(european version).

But one thing is wrong: I plug in my microphone to my mixer, I can hear it works!!, but when I get into an audio project in HS and want to record, then it's like dead, I can hear the mic works! But Setting a audio track for record, it doesnt respond!! ___why I really do not know! And the guidance really do not help! Just annoys me !

I can neither record in Windows Soundrecorder.

    What are your track settings?

Make sure you aren't using that S/PDIF output - you don't have anything plugged into it (I don't think).

    Hi

I don't have an EMU card but I notice that you mention the inputs in Options/Audio are showing as follows:

    Input Drivers: 1: E-MU ASIO PCI Card S/PDIF In L. 2: E-MU ASIO PCI Card In L. 3: -"- In R.

Is it possible that the S/PDIF input is the selected input for the track on which you are trying to record? If it is showing up at the top of the list in Drivers then it is probably going to be the default input.

YES! Thank You Both Very Much!!

I clicked S/PDIF off so it is no longer marked, and now I can Record perfectly!

    Thanks__
