Quick question...

I'm installing Windows XP Pro on a laptop that I'll be running music apps on. Do I want a Fat32 file system or a NTFS file system? The partition is already Fat32 from a previous Windows installation. Should I convert the partition to NTFS? (I know... that's two questions)

The best is always yet to come. Now...shut up and make some noise!

    Hi Sonic:
The NTFS format is the preferred one for WinXP. More secure and minor fragmentation are the two major arguments for the decision.
If you will make a fresh install, not convert from FAT32 to NFTS. Instead, delete the partition, boot from the WinXP CD and create a new partition and format it inside the OS installation routine.
    Greetings.

You definitely want NTFS! The file system is not only more stable and secure it will perform better than Fat32. Fat32 will give a bit better performance on smaller partitions but who has those anymore :)
