recording question

Hi, Im having trouble recording an instrument into my soundcard and into sonar. Once something has been recorded it is not exactly where i started playing in track view and i have to drag it so it matches up with the other tracks that have been recorded. This is quite annoying, why is this happening? Also when recording or playing back the audio will start going all jumpy and slowing down. Is this latency or something? I dont know. I hope you know what i mean because this also is very annoying! Thanks.

Maybe, but it sounds more like a sampling rate is wrong somewhere, what sampling rate is the card set to and also Sonar? What sound card? If sound blaster or audigy, then it is most likely 48,000 Htz and that is what Sonar must be set to.

Hi, I think my soundcard is set to 41.1 kHz. Playback and recorder buffer size 4096. Latency 92ms (41.1 kHz)

Im not sure what the settings in sonar are ill have a look.

I use 1024 as my buffer setting, and get latency around 24 msec
