If you're looking for all categories of sounds, try something like:

    Dimension Pro
    Ravity
    Purity
    Kontakt
    SampleTank
    Colossus

If you're looking for synth sounds mostly, here are some based on user opinons: http://www.kvraudio.com/ratings/0.html

Thanks you very much torhan. So if I get this straight, these will help me create sounds to use in P606?

No, these are soft-synths to use inside of your host. I was assuming you are using a sequencer as well (like Sonar). Sorry for the confusion!

Ok, my bad. So can you help me out with what I should do set-up wise. Assuming money isnt a problem.

I have a Roland SP606, and it comes with the the cakewalk program P606. It comes with very basic and shi.tty sounds. I like using the software, and just need better sounds for it. What should I get/do?
    Also thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with that unit.

Have you looked at the Yahoo Group: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Roland_And_Boss_Drum_Machine_User_Group/ ? Perhaps they could be a better resource?

I'm assuming the SP606 can load .wav files...so if you're looking for (electronic) drum sounds, I would recommend NI's "Synthetic Drums" series: http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=syntheticdrums_us
    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=syntheticdrums2_us

I would first double-check with NI that they are compatible!

    Mint,

Do you know if by any chance the P606 program is able to load "patch files" (*.P5H).

AFAIK, P606 is very similar to Kinetic, and with some tweaks it is possible to load 3rd party synths into Kinetic, so it may be also possible with P606.

    Also, doesn't P606 come with PSYN ?

One way is to create an account on www.SoundClick.com and then post a link in the Songs forum
