zero duration note blues

Anyone have ideas on this one? I've hooked up a DD-55 Yamaha MIDI drum controller into my
PC. If I use the Vienna sound font editor to preview sounds, I can hear them all, in particular the
foot pedal high hat closing.

If I do the same direct into Cakewalk Home Studio, I can't hear the high hat pedal. But if I do this with
record running, the notes do get recorded. If I play it back, I can hear *some* of them.

When I do a piano roll view, I can check the "notes" and see that they have zero duration. If
I lengthen them to "1", then I can hear them.

I can't really record drums with a highhat if I can't hear it while I'm playing. Any ideas?
Odd that it works fine in Vienna, but not with Music Creator.

I've tried changing a number of MIDI settings, but nothing helps. And there doesn't seem to be
anything in the DD-55 to force a '1' minimum duration. Perhaps a free plugin that expands troublesome
zero-width notes? A setting in Cakewalk to force them apart?

I scanned the net and found others with drum units (including the DD-55) with the same
problem, but haven't seen a solution anywhere.

Thanks,
- Tim
