How To Change the Key on a midi File?

New to this and I have Music Creator Pro24 2004. I want to change the key of the whole song that it was written in with a midi file that I D/L from the net. How do I do this please?

Well i am working with mc 2003 but i think it should be the same. In your track view their should be a spot the says "key+" Simply change the number to get a differnt key. +12 should be one octive up and -12 should be one down. I hope this answeres your question....good luck!!!

Tried that and it doesn't seem to work. I tried to go from a C to an A and it still plays it in a C.

From the help file in the program.

Here are two ways to transpose MIDI data in Music Creator:

You can apply the Edit-Transpose command to selected data (see the procedure below).
You can use the Key+ control for a specific track--the Key+ control is located with the other track parameter controls in the Track pane. This method causes a track to play higher or lower by the number of half steps you enter in the Key+ control. This is a non-destructive form of editing that leaves the pitch of the original data unchanged, but adds an "offset" when the track plays back.

    To Transpose our Tutorial File
Select all the notes in the bass track by clicking the bass track's track number. The track number should appear highlighted when it is selected.
Select all the notes in the organ track by Ctrl-clicking (holding down the Ctrl key while you click) the organ track's track number. Ctrl-clicking allows you to make multiple selections.
Use the Edit-Transpose command to open the Transpose dialog box.
Enter -2 (negative 2) in the Amount field and click OK.
Ctrl-click both track numbers again to deselect them.
Music Creator transposes the selected data down a whole step (2 half steps). Choose MIDI outputs for your tracks and play the project. You can undo the transposition by pressing Ctrl+z, and redo the transposition by pressing Ctrl+Shift+z

If this does not work, make sure you are downloading midi files and not MP3's or something.

MB caught my "subtle" input there!

Tempo is the same kind of issue, there is a tempo box up top, and just change to what you want and it should respond well in midi.

and Robo caught my "not so subtle" input there! - Man Robo, you still got the patience! Kudos to you.

I'm trying not to be too cranky, but I've given up on subtlety. So few even try to do it for themselves anymore.
I'm still wondering why that copyright site Joe referred us to in another post is still a copyright site. Wasn't there a hint of subtle nastiness in his post?

For those who don't know - if you want to walk you put your right foot forward then the left followed by the right followed by the left etc.- or vice versa - Left-right-left-right-etc.

If you do it really fast ... you'll be running grasshopper!

For your own protection, you should seek out Jack Black as soon as possible!
