Z3TA+ Install questions

I went ahead and took advantage of the Z3TA+ weekend deal for registered Sonar 5 users. After I got a download link sent to me. I'm noticing that the installer is "dxi only". The name of the file is z3taDXi140.exe

Am I missing something here, or shouldn't there also be an option for installing the stand alone version and also the VST? The description on the instruments/downloads site says that 3 versions are included. I need to use Z3TA+ also with a VSTi host. So having this limitied to DXI only isn't going to work for me.

Edit: I found the .exe file for the standalone version in the folder path "Program Files\rgcaudio software\z3ta+" located on my c: drive. Any ideas on how to get the VST version of this working? Dropping the .dll file for Z3TA+ into my VST plugins folder doesn't seem to work.

Even after you ran the VST Adapter?

Yep. I even went as far as copying over the entire folder path into the VST folder, as shown in the install docs for the Virus mod I was planning to use ("VSTfolder"/z3ta+/rgcaudio z3ta+). I tried it with the .dll file just inside the VST folder root, and also having it reside in the subfolder for z3ta+. The VST adapter won't work, and I'm not having any luck with native VST hosts either.

I'm not too crazy about the fact that Cakewalk sold me a version of this plugin with everything BUT DXi crippled on it. After all. It does say on their product page that the software ships with 3 versions (stand alone, VST, and DXi). http://store.cakewalk.com/product.asp?ID=18

Have you contacted Cakewalk? I have since the same thing happened here. I'm waiting to hear back. Funny, but I seem to remember the demo installing DXi and VST versions.

I've been on the phone with their sales department twice. Both times, the person on the other end had to put me on hold to find an answer. In the end they just sent me the same link again to download the exe file I mentioned in my first post. I haven't had the time yet to call up tech support yet due to time zone differences. But it looks like that's going to have to be my next step.

Back when I bought z3ta+ from rgc:audio René had separate links for the DXi and VSTi versions. The mini-host for the stand-alone came with both of them. Maybe things have changed but the DXi.dll file was just an individual wrapper for the VSTi.

The Cakewalk promo was oriented to SONAR users, therefore there's only one installer shipped (DXi). However, you can still get both DXi and VST and the standalone version working:

1- Uninstall z3ta+ from the Control Panel
2- Reinstall it using the DXi installer you got. When asked for a folder, please point the installer to your \Vstplugins folder instead of \Program Files... etc.

That should result in both DXi and VSTi operational.

Thanks René. That did the trick.

I tried running Cakeswalk's VST adapter on it, and it initially gives an "Open Editor" failure point message. But I went ahead and enabled it despite the warning. The VST version is now running fine in S5 as well.
VSTi version is running well with my other VST hosts also.

Thanks again for helping me out.

So we don't get the standalone version anymore? (or with the promotion, I guess)

Also, is there no longer a manual?

Yes, standalone is in, and so the manual.
