Move me over to "off topic" please

I wanted to reply to the "Help Denmark" post but for some reason my "reply" and "new post" buttons are non-existant in the "off topic" forum, so I had no choice but to post it in here so please move me over there mr. administrator

I am an American (origionally from LA) living in DK (for the last 9½ years now) and am also outraged over the response to the drawings in "Jytlands Posten" especially after finding this link:

Which clearly shows this is nothing new so why all the fuss now? Whats even more upsetting is that once I decided to do a search on the internet, it took me all of 5 minutes to find this link. Why hasn't a single reporter (that I have seen or read anyway) bothered to mention the fact that Mohamed has been depicted many many times in many ways over the centuries by many artist (and cartoonist)???

This whole thing is so crazy it makes me want to puke! Satire has almost always been directed at religion or politics, at least what I've seen in my life time! I've never in my life (I'm 41) considered myself a racist or prejudice towards another race or religion in any way but this crap is starting to scare me! My 2 cents.

I'm more offended by the fact that the President of the US is a liar, who spies on Americans, who tortures people, and does all this with the tax dollars I pay into the fisc. This makes me sick. I don't really care too much about those cartoons.

There ya go Dave, we do agree on some things! I always take Main Stream Media "facts" with a grain of salt.

In Britain the Labor Party recently tried to limit freedom of speech so that you could not critisize religions. They only managed to do this partially. One of the opponents was Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) who defended the right of comedians to make religious jokes. In Jyllands-Posten this morning there was an article by Rowan Atkinson, it boils down to this: Freedom of speech means you can joke about anything and critisize, but not threaten.

Now, the newspaper I subscribe to started all the current muslim uproar with 12 cartoons, actually published to test if we really had freedom of speech. (An author had found it impossible to get a book about Mohamed illustrated. The artists were afraid. ) So this plus the burning of embassies show me that whereas we are joking, those we are up against are threatening. In other words we follow Rowan Atkinson's concept about the responsibility of freedom of speech, but they don't.
