Midisport 2x4 (vs) Midisport 8x8

Have added additional Midi equipment and am planning on upsizing from my current Midisport 2x4 to a Midisport 8x8.

Anyone experiencing any problems with their 8x8 on Sonar * or have other possible recommendations?

Thanks for any input.

PS: Dell PC/Windows XP
(2x4 not for sale)

I am personally very happy with my MOTU MTPAV. I've got two of the 8x8 parallel versions and have had great luck with them from Windows 95 all the way up to Windows XP Pro.

I've seen them recently going for $70-$100 on e-bay, the drivers are available at www.motu.com and I think if you need that many ports, its at least worth considering.

    Best of luck!

    I had the 8x8 midisport.

I tested it and it took over 12 milliseconds to transfer a midi signal. Not to the USB port. Just from midi in one to midi out one.

I had spent all kinds of money to get my audio latency down and found out the biggest latency was midi.

I spent a month complaining to Maudio and they just sluffed me off.

I just can't let it go. It seems very wrong.

If I ever need a large array of midi devices again I will probably build a passive midi patch bay.

    Hi Randy

Re: your MOTU MTPAV serial / parellel Midi units, do these have on-board switchable 110v / 220v mains power *or* are they factory hard-wired to 220v ?

Am curious for O/S portabiltiy reasons.

    Many thanks,

Edirol UM880 has x64 drivers and mine works great with WinXP.

Thanks so much for your comments and suggestions. Always nice to have these forums to run questions by the "experienced" before making an uninformed and/or bad choice.

I've found M-Audio support to be non-existent. I'm happily using the Edirol UM-880 also.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. I actually don't know, I'd have to dig into each of them in the rack to see. I can do that for you - or find my manual if you really need me to find out for you.

A quicker way would probably be to ask an E-bay seller if such a switch exist on the back of the unit. They'd be able to look at it and see.

I'll try to remember to look at mine though when I get a chance.
