Maybe it's too late, but I'm planning on having a blast with Rapture being hosted by Sonar 4 Home Studio XL which I grabbed for $99 on sale at Guitar Center. It's not the bells and whistles of the DAW I'm insterested in, it's the features of the synth! So if you don't need all of the S5 features, maybe you could save some bucks and go w/ Home Studio 4.

I'm with you, Rick. I'm not sure why I would need to upgrade from Sonar HS 4 XL right now. I mean, is Sonar 5 PE going to help me that much more?

Apologies for hijacking this thread......... I have just been thinking this same thing for the last month or so...

I'm now looking at Acid Pro 6. Not really thrilled with Sonar 4 Home Studio so far. But probably need to keep plugging away at it for a while to gain some fluency with it. Then I'd be more qualified to decide if I dig it or not.

I'm not having any issues with HS 4 XL. It can do everything I 'think' I want it to do
