I am starting to agree with the view that "rating" a user by the number of posts is counterproductive. I think just the number of posts itself would suffice.

I'd take that one step further to quality of content per post, Rick. I say do away with the "medals" and numbers altogether. As we've seen, the numbers don't necessarily equate with informational value or the inherent knowledge of the poster. Only strict quantity in a narrow forum focus.

I once saw a guy who posted over 30,000 times in under 2 years. Makes B look positively shy in comparison. I even cut-and-pasted a response someone made because it was so funny:

"jesus, 30k posts in 1.5 years? get a life. MY GOD man."

The difference being, B's posts are worth reading. I just wonder how B gets any work done.

To think, at one time P5 was a $429 MSRP app.

Who says this isn't work? I just don't get a paycheck for it.

To be quite honest, the BS-to-useful information ratio has been way out of whack here lately. My bad. I'll get it back. I just need some new inspiration. Maybe a new synth would do it for me. Nothing crazy: just something with a great set of sound sources that i could tweak around with. Maybe take the best parts of digital control, analog sequencers, and a tracking generator or event processor, and combine them. Give me a lot of them sync'ed together.

If I really wanted to get crazy, I'd like to actually be able to create my own LFO shapes. Then give me a hidden level up underneath, where I can create anything that might not be available to the GUI interface. Oh, and control. Lots of control, from both internal and external sources. So I can manage all of this power from my KBs, and impart the human touch -the soul- to the maze of digital technology.

I guess that I'm just a dreamer, huh? No such thing here on Earth.

I think there is no doubt that these forums would be less bloated if people weren't thinking in the back of their heads that the next post (and the next, and ....) would even a little bit elevate their status in said forum. The concept of "status milestones" just makes it worse IMO. One cool forum that doesn't use status milestones is the Roland Fantom forum

B-rock,

I just want to have mind control over the sound - just think it and have it reproduced. And every experiment turn out right!

So, what can you do, Rene'?

Been there, done that. It isn't all it's cracked up to be. Kind of fussy, like aftertouch. If you can manage to keep your stuff from shorting out, there's still the impedance mismatch issues, and all of those cables hanging off your head prove to restrict mobility. Whatever you do, don't drink, smoke, or similar while attempting this procedure.

Nano-plugins would be nice, but not in the current world environment. And bugfixes aren't for the squeamish.

ORIGINAL: b rock

As the step sequencers work at a layer level, each note in the chord gets its own step sequencer.
Let just say this: you *could* emulate layer-level control using automation. Either set up your's keyboard's O/S for a ton of splits and MIDI Channels, and/or use something like Project5 and its MIDI Input & Channel Filter per-track. Emphasis on *could*. It's going to take you forever.

I'm sure you could program in binary a .wav file that would allow you to be as creative as possible. Now, THAT would take forever!

Rapture just seems to be the answer for a playground of experimentaion as b rock said....

I was sitting on the fence the last few days on this one, but I think I'm going for it...... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.........

Well, unfortunately you got DimPro before P5, I know there's a promo the other way around (you might want to ask your dealer anyways). For Rapture, I'm afraid there's no discount or promos currently, sorry.
