good pre amps for vocals/acoustic gtr

i have been looking at a few pre-amps to add some depth/warmth to my recording sound. I'd really like to get by with something under $500. can anyone make any recommendations of what they like. any help greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

Give this a long hard look. http://www.zzounds.com/item--FOCTRAKPRO
Presonus has one in your price range, http://www.zzounds.com/item--PRSMP20, but I really liked the Focusrite a lot, and it has EQ, and Compressor included.

I have a blue tube from Presonus and it sounds nice. I think they're about $100-150.
I'd definetly look at some Presonus preamps and see if any of them fit the bill for you.

I use the Presonus TubePre, and it's just OK, not bad though, especially for a hundred bucks.

I've ended up recording vocals through a Behringer Tube Ultragain MIC100 and for the price it's fantastic. I've spent a long time messing around with different set up's & have come to the conclusion that the biggest influence on recording vocals is the room that you record in versus mic positioning. Have a mess around with this before spending your cash.
    Good luck
