Firebox?

Still looking for the right firewire interface

Has anyone on the forum had experiences with Presonus' Firebox and Sonar?

M-audio's FW 410 has also been suggested, but it seems a lot of you guys have problems with the drivers.

One of the sites (Musician's Friend or Sweetwater) had 9's for the Firebox and 6's for the FW 410, if I remember right. Based on that I bought the Firebox. I can't be happier with it, with Sonar and FLS.

I use the firebox with sonar, fls, and reason and I love it. the mic preamps are great. I recently obtained a delta 44 from a friend so I can experiment with pci and try out pt m-powered. If you are interested in a firebox I might be selling mine, It is less than 6 months old.

I've been using Firebox & Sonar 5PE without any problems. I must say the mic preamps of the Firebox is pretty good for the price :)

I don't know... I have one for my protable rig and I can't say I'm 100% satisfied with the pres... but then again, maybe I'm just used to my Focusrite Platinums in the 'big studio'...

I use the FirePod, which is the big brother for the Box. Works great. There is an year-old review in Sound on sound for the Pod that ought to be applicable.

I use the Firebox with Live 5 and Sonar 5 and have no problems.

Great pre's for the $$, seems durable, 4.0ms total latency ASIO

I'm saving for the Firepod now

    I'm very pleased

So I have the Firebox as well, and I like it...
It's a very subjective call, but in my opinion it's a bit "noisier" than the MOTU 828 mk1 I came to it from...
Both of those, IMO, sound a bit "flat" in comparison to the EMU 1616M I'm running now...

It's really subjective... I know people who hate the "color" of the EMU, and swear by the MOTU, and others who swear by the Firebox.

    The reality is:
The MOTU originally costs: almost 1000 bucks
The EMU costs: around 500 bucks
The Firebox costs: around 275 bucks

For the money, it's really hard to beat, and I have nothing negative to say about it.
    I use it daily.
