I want to GROUP!!!

I´d love to have an option to "group" things together (i.e. audio takes, midi, VST) so I can move them without missing the synchro (as in the Adobe Premiere)
I don´t mean "sending tracks to a bus", but linking the pieces I have recorded, the audio o the data of the take.
I think it would be very useful!

Thank you very much!

    Hi aniat-

Isn't "Track Folders" at least close to what you're looking for? You can group any number of Audio, MIDI, and synth tracks in a folder and move them as one by dragging them in the Folder Track. Or am I way off base here?

Well... I don´t understand the "track folders" Susan, but I think it is not.
I want to group two or more Clips (which they are in one or more tracks) and be able to move or drag them all together, so I don´t miss the synchro.

Yes, ooblecaboodle, I did. But if you find this idea useful, please, post it. I think the more the requestes they have, more seroiusly will be taken the idea...

    Thanks to both!

Ah, I understand (I think!) This would be similar to what you can do with the tracks in Track Folders now, but limited to Clips, so you can group and drag them together, regardless of which Folder they're in (or if they're in one at all)?

I won't say more until I'm sure I understand correctly what you mean! You'd like Clips to be "permanently" linked, so they always move together?

can't you just bounce to a clip to join them together? could always cut them up again later on?

i know what you mean, this is a feature in cubase where you join events together to form one big event.

tbh, i used to use that feature a lot in cubase, but i don't find the need for it now in sonar, either just select both events when you wnat to move them or bounce to clip.

Sometimes it's nice to be able to group clips that span across multiple tracks.
In this scenario, bouncing to clip doesn't help.

You can work without grouping features, it's just quicker with them.

Can't you just cntrl-click on each of the clips you want to select at one time and then drag them together? Its not a permanent grouping, but it gets the job done.

What if you had 75 clips you wanted to move at the same time. And they start and end at different times? If you are luck you only have to CTRL Click 75 time to do this.

You could change to the selection tool and drag-select the clips if they're nicely arranged. Or if you're moving between tracks you can press the shift while dragging so they don't change their time positions.

Same here, ideally the VISIO-like grouping mechanism, the group would have its own snap anchor so it wouldn't always snap to the start of the first clip. Maybe in the next rev? <crossed fingers>
