Compression, drums, volume....

Ok so everyone always is saying they don't like the meters in P5. I just think they aren't using them right.

I ALWAYS have problems with the drums being too loud or too soft. If I back off the drums then they are too soft. Don't have that kick.

So what do you guys think is the optimal volume/compression combo to work with? The other problem is that I always have to mix within my drum machine. How does all that work out? I shave off a couple of decibels in the drum machine and it always screws with volume/compression. Should I try to keep the drum machine under the red bar then compress? Or should I compress just to keep it under the red bar? Ughhh I hate that red bar.

Compress the begeezers out of them and then bounce them to audio. If you're using a Multi-out like Velocity when you bounce it to audio you'll get 5 seperate tracks. Mix w/joy.

    have a good one
