Dimension Pro deal

Uh, hi all. I've been lurking around for awhile, reading silently, sometimes hanging about the "Users viewing this forum," sometimes engaging in ultimate anonymity as a "guest." Anyways, you all seem like souls so I thought I should share something very relative to the Instruments Forum. Today I bought Dimension Pro for 179.99 from my local Sam Ash by making them price-match http://keenzo.com. Keenzo.com is one of the thousands of general electronics websites and is a liscensed dealer of Cakewalk products - yeah, the Sam Ash manager triple-checked it so it has to be so. Anyways, any local store that does price-matching will match this price. Because of all of your descriptions, the samples, and the awesome fact that the developer participates in this forum I was compelled, compulsed, to purchase it at this very excellent price. Any of you who have been waiting like I was, the time is nigh.

(Sorry if deal-posting is tabboo, but it seems like something hopeful, frugal consumers would want to know. Also, I'm unaffilliated with Keenzo and Cakewalk, am just a...)

Hail, no, Jon: I don't think that anyone would fault you for making a smart deal in a legitimate manner. It's an excellent sample-synth, and you made the best of it by researching your purchase, and playing one vendor against the other. Trust me: it's a game of dollars & sense, and no dealer is going to inform you of any other options at their own expense.

Keenzo says it has Rapture for $146, too - but not in stock. Man, that can't be right.

Gutterbumber, I didn't get it from Keenzo because I'm working on building credit; by charging Dimension Pro to my Sam Ash card I could both do that and have it in my hands at the moment of purchase. Maybe that's a personal answer to a general question, but if I didn't really care how I paid for it I probably would have ordered it from Keenzo.

Well it turns out that, despite what the webpage says, this IS the Academic License. Fooey.

I think in order to have an OEM version, you have to have some piece of hardware that is sold with the full version of the software installed.

that makes sense, because it will be such a draw back to spend X amount of money on the product and then you find out the next day that it is sold for half the price.

Not true at all. You can upgrade the educational versions of our entire software catalog. That's how I got into this whole DAW game to begin with (back then, it was just a MIDI sequencer and a reel to reel 8 track).

For the same price? So, if you are a student, whats the drawback? I Guess misinformation is the price you pay for listening to a Guitar Center employee!

If someone stays in school long enough, can you get a senior discount, too? I mean, look at all the old farts that would love to be hip hop rapping and rolling - it is coming. Sure, Cake may lose some money with 10% here and 20% there, but it could rule the boomer world.
