All this flashy stuff...

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on using flash? I ahve flash MX and havnt a lue how to use it. What I really want to do is to spice up my site by using a flash... so the actualy site is one page and the user clicks on a button on the menu, the word flies over the screen and some cool FX... U know, the basic stuff.

Can anyone help me out here?

Also, if I cant get any help on flash, maybe someone could help me make my site a bit more professional-looking, because at the moment, it just looks boring and amateur-ish. ( www.freeky.co.uk )

Thanks in advance!

Flash is kind of hard, in my opinion. I'm really glad I had a class that taught me some of the basics. I'd suggest reading tutorials at flashkit.com and such.

Wasn't there a program that did a bunch of Flash-based stuff but simpler called Swish or something? The only problem with that was that it became too overused it was easy to tell a page where that software had been used...it was a good 3 or 4 years ago when I last looked at it though, so it may have developed a long way since then (or died)...

I think flash is easy once you know the basics. I actually wouldn’t recommend using it for an interface. Find a good tutorial on making movie clips. This is the fundamental tool of flash. I taught myself how to use it with a book called Teach yourself flash in 24 hours. 24 hours sounds like a short time but it took me forever to go though the tutorials. I also got a book on action script. Action script is pretty fundamental and it's also very difficult to grasp. Also make sure you figure out how to do motion and shape tweens. Very important.
