Trigger Finger Setup

I know this probably isn't the place for a question like this, but Propellorhead forums suck, so here goes.

I just bought an M-Audio Trigger Finger to use with Reason 3.
I can't figure out how to assign certain trigger pads to certain sounds in Redrum.
I can assign the knobs to whatever I want. I've got that part down.
But how do I assign the pads to the sounds. Right now when I hit the pads, I get nothing.

Ok I found out that if you want to control Redrum with a controller, you use the first 10 notes starting at C1 and up.

So if I plug in my keyboard, I can just play those notes and it plays the corresponding drum samples in Redrum. I have done this, and it works fine.

I even found out how to assign certain pads on the trigger finger to certain notes, using the edit mode on the trigger finger itself.

    Still doesn't work though.

I bought that Trigger Finger from GC and apparently it had been returned because the instruction manual was not there. I downloaded it at work, so maybe this afternoon I'll be able to make sense out of it.

I sure would appreciate some input from anyone who's dealt with this before.

    Thanks.

Wish I could help mate. But I've never used Reason except for a ten minute play once.

I know a guy I can ask on tuesday if you're still struggling.

Unfortunately, the guy I thought would know hasn't used Reason for a while.

But his comments were along the lines of:
The Trigger Finger comes with a tool (Enigma?) which should help you out. And there should be some Reason Redrum presets shipped with the TF (maybe on the CD if not already installed) which map the finger to the necessary software cells.

    Hope this helps a little.

Ya, like I said the CD was not included. I downloaded the drivers from M-Audio's website, but I didn't think there was any additional software for this. I'll check the website again for that Enigma program.

I actually did read something about presets for Reason, but there's no way to do that without that software probably. I can probably just download it for free too.

    Thanks for the help.

Ya, I downloaded Enigma for free.
I think that should do the trick. I should be able to just load the Reason preset and tweak from there.

Let us know how you get on. Sorry, missed the bit about you not having the CD but glad to hear you managed to download it.

Best of luck. I have my trigger fingers crossed for you -- see what I did there.

Well last night I installed Enigma and was able to load the Reason Redrum presets into the Trigger Finger.

Now it is showing midi activity when I hit the pads (before it only showed midi activity when I moved the sliders and knobs, but nothing when I hit the pads,) but it's still not triggering redrum.

I'm gonna try and call M-Audio this afternoon and see if they can help.
I imagine if I call Propellerhead, they'll just tell me to call M-Audio.
