MC3 comes with a VST adapter, so you don't need to purchase another one.

thank you Beagle for your response, is mc3 and mc pro 24 the same thing because I have searched hi and lo for the file vst adapter and I can't find it. I have come across quite a few things that one of you have suggested over the last 12 months and found my program dosn't match whatever is being suggested, just assumed my program is differant from either mc2 or mc3. I mainly use an Alesis qs6s and thought it might be fun to use a soft synth, which is why this problem is now cropping up. Plus I'm old so maybe age is just stopping me from getting it together but if I do have that file, its not where it should be!Have asked cakewalk if they know so maybe in a day or so I will know. Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply, really like the way you guys help each other, makes me think the world is quite a cool place. thanks again

Sorry! I wasn't paying close enough attention. You said you had MC Pro, not MC3. I *thought* MC Pro had a VST adapter with it, but I have never used MC Pro, so I don't know for certain. Better wait until one of the more savvy MC users reads the post and lets you know for certain.

    Sorry, Pete!

Pro does not, so yes you do need one, Download the demo of sonar and see if it allows you to use VSTis in Pro, it did for me in MC2003.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Thanks robomusic, will give your tip a try. Should it not work was thinking of getting mc3 as the cost is more or less the same as the vst adapter but you have mentioned that you feel mc3 is a bit unstable. Do you still feel that way? Just seem to find reading these posts that although I find pro very good one or two things seem to be missing and mc3 seems to have them. Guess I just must seize the day huh! Thanks again to you both

I am still not getting MC3 to do much, I mean it plays and will record the audio and midi are working, but two or three effects and it all goes whacky. i have songs i am working on with it and it skips notes, and studders and breaks down.it is very frustrating. I am hoping hte testing they are doing with Sonar and the VSTi adapter will shed some light on this problem. I am ready to give up on MC right now, as i can't finish a project with it, yet all the other programs i have work just fine, MTS is flawless, Vegas is fine, Acid Pro no problem, I might even go back and reload my old MC2003 it never gave me problems.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Hi Robomusic, looks like I owe you a drink, your tip worked a treat and not only for the moog, have whole bunch of other stuff I didn't have before. Thank you, really appreciate it. Take care

If you can afford it, I would get Sonar Home Studio 4 or 4XL instead of MC3. MC3 will apparently work for small projects according to what I've heard on this forum, but if you need more flexibility and can afford it, go with SHS4.
