sound card issues

I am trying to isolate a problem with timing and eratic playback with an RME Hammerfall 9652.

It plays OK for like 10-30 seconds and then tracks drift out of sync with each other.
It plays OK if all the tracks are assigned to just the 1st output channel (1&2). But not if the tracks are on the other outputs. (this is all lightpipe into a digital mixer if that makes a difference).

Anybody ever have a similar problem ?

It might be the video card which is a Matrox G400 Millenium.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Tim

Maybe a clock issue - which is the slave, the mixer or the soundcard?

The RME interface is set to Autosync .
I never had any issues with "clock" in Win98 in the past 4 years or so.

This is a new system now with XP.

    Thanks

    Seen this?

"Sonar ASIO DLLs for Hammerfall, Hammerfall DSP, HDSP MADI and DIGI96 series. Fixes MIDI/audio offset in Sonar".

    Thanks immprod.

Yea I've got that driver. Thanks for looking.

I'm most concerned about getting Cakewalk9.03 to run correctly first though and I guess that is for Sonar.
Sonar's next if I get Cake working.
(maybe you just can't have your Cake and eat it too:)

I'm trying a fresh install from XP on up.

    Installing Cake now. (fingers crossed).

By the way timidi; I see that you´re using an Asus board. Can you update your hdsp´s firmware through it? Heard some rumours that you can´t. Im about to upgrade my DAW and I own a hdsp so I´m just curious...

    Good luck!

mine is the 9652 which is the predecessor to the hdsp.
Don't know about the update thing. But, I wouldn't see how the type of board would affect that.
    It's always somethin, eh...
I can tell you that the ASUS support forum is pretty useless though.

OK, tried another power supply and got an nVidia Geforce 5200 AGP. Didn't fix anything.

BUT, get this. So, I sort of notice that there is one track that is really the culprit with bad sync on Outputs 7&8. It's the only thing on that buss. So I diddle with it. I delete the pan envelope and it's in sink.

So, what's that all about??? Idunno.

    Hello again!

Did all your problems start after you went from Win98 to XP? Maybe a driver issue? But what do I know....
