tracking digital drums

I am tracking drums with a combination of real cymbals with v-drums(TD-10) in Sonar 5. It sounds pretty good for straight drum beats, but when you do hits close together (flams, rolls, tom fills) it starts getting that digital sound. Is there a way to adjust the drum tracks to eliminate or reduce this digital sound? If so, would it be easier to make that adjustment with individual audio tracks or midi tracks for each drum?

Thank - Jamie

You might check out Voxengo's Warmifier. You can download a demo and see if it improves your sound. http://www.voxengo.com/product/warmifier/

For rolls, you might try doubling your note values and durations (ie, 4x16ths instead of 8x32nds), bounce that to an audio clip, then use a 32nd delay (1 repeat only) and play around with the delay volume. Perhaps more repeats would work, too. As for flams, you might get decent results simply by adjusting the velocities. Lower the velocity on the first hit. Beyond that, you might have to get creative. Note velocities though, make such a huge difference with sequenced drums.
