One word: FM Synthesis.........ok, so that's two words.....ok, three words if you count the fact that "FM" is short for Frequency Modulation. Plus, there's the fantastic Cabinet models, compressor, z3ta+'s little midi2cmp program that lets you make custom arpeggio patterns from standard midi files...literally thousands of presets available all over the web from all types of users. z3ta+ has an extremely active user base...so there's always new skins and other goodies popping up. I don't feel that Rapture has replaced z3ta+ at all....more of a half-brother if you ask me.

Thanks Frank for the feed back. It seems interesting . My only concern am I going to have same presets or Z3ta has something different . I just dont want to end up with same sounds. I was happy to find out that Rapture had total different library from DP . does Z3ta also have a different library as well from both ?

Yes sir ;)+) I've been using z3ta making content for Rapture :)+). See Rap does have a lot that z3ta does not. And the other way around as well. And well I'm lost as an objective reviewer. I'm a way big fan of these synths, The z3ta is different. Same way the pentagon is different from z3ta. So with that said you could just pick something and use it anyway ya want to. But for me they compliment each other very well. And while you can do the same type of sound it is some how different, sounds different. Rene can explain it better than me but I'm here right now and I got em all so there ;0

No....Although, there are alot of electronic/dance/trance/etc..type presets out there for z3ta+...but I don't think you'll find the same sounds. Maybe the same genre...but not the same preset.

Yea, z3ta and Rapt are related, but not the same. Each has strengths the other doesn't, tho, for me, Rapt is easier to program (esp. after spending quality time with Dimension). But there are things you can do with Z3TA you can't with Rapt, so if you can pick it up cheap (wasn't it going for $100?) it is a good investment.

I guess the answer to the original question is, "do you want to be really happy?"

Honestly, I don't think you "need" it. But I'm sure it'll make you very happy if you get it....

I Think he means to say, that if you donwload the demo, you'll love it so much, that you won't be able to resist buying it.

    Exactly

I take it my advice was too late and you are already hooked?

When you do eventually get it, look out for the great additional sound banks that are available - including a Virus-like one which was available free and sounds stunning. Not sure where it can be got from now but a bit of searching will unearth it.

Well the truth is that we don't really need anything in this life apart from food and shelter- but for my 10 cents worth-the z3ta+ in my favourite of all of the soft synths I have ever heard-and I do have a few toys in the toy box..That is a monster synth-but it needs some serious horsepower in the CPU department to get the most out of it...Check it out with the Big Tone banks and you'll drift away into digital heaven..best wishes...aj washington
