What is the difference?
Can anyone please tell me what the difference is between the "Cakewalk Dimension Pro Virtual Synthesizer Academic Lab Pack" for $629.99 and the "Cakewalk Dimension Pro Virtual Synthesizer" for $249.99? Both listed at Musicians Friend.

WTF?
They both the same?
nearly 700 dollars for the lab pack. I think it's a rip off for unaware customers.

It's not a ripoff. The Lab Pack contains five licenses. It's a pretty good price in fact, as 5 * $250 = $1250. 50% deal.

Lots of gear. Not enough time.

BTW.- Lab Packs are for schools, so you to buy it I guess you must prove you're a teacher or faculty staff.
There's a single-user academic version of Dimension Pro which is only $209.99:

If you can prove you're a student or teacher, you can save $40.

These guys have always done well by me. Many times if you have kids in K-12 they can get these discounted prices as well.
I have heard some people say they have had delay issues with them, but I usually get their prices and find someone like the local Guitar Center to match the price. Save money = GOOD. It's amazing how much places like Guitar Center and Sweetwater will knock off their prices if you ask them to. I usually start by asking for 20% off. Never been turned down yet.
