I am sorry but how could we know? I mean you have not told us anything of value. i say this not to be harsh, but really i want to help, but that was kind of like saying "i want to build a closet, how many nails do i need?"

Tell us what kind of computer and what operating system, what CPU and how much ram, what sound card, what kind of mike, what input jack do you use to plug the mike into? Things like this will help us help you.

I am not really that computer savvy, so i'll give you the most info I know off hand. I don't know if these things are relavent or not, but I have a broadband connection. Before music creator three, i had Sound Blaster Live's recorder which worked fine, but was really simple. I am using somthing with them as my inputs or outputs whatever that means. My microphone has a salmon colored jack and just plugs into a hole with the corresponding coloring. I was recording on a 4 track audio file. I don't know what my ram is, and stuff. Sorry for being so computer retarted, so i hope this helped you more

Goto start/control panel/system and check general and see if it does not tell you whatt speed computer and how much ram, close system and find sound and audio devices open it and check the volume tabs for playback and record, also make sure your sound card is listed and that the volume sliders are up and nothing is muted or unchecked

Next open up MC and go to options/audio and make sure that the playback and record devices are sound blaster, then close and reopen the program. and try again

    OK, so i checked it and it said : Intell(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz 1.99GHz 256 mb of RAM.
I checked everything else and all the volume sliders are on medium.

If you are running XP you are a tad light on ram, i would upgrade to 512. if the recording is getting distorted then it cound be that the audio is processing to slow, and the sound card has issues. try changing driver modes and also fiddle with the latency slider.

Ok I followed your begginers start up tutorial (which is very good and detailed by the way) and was fine through this part

"Go to the top of the screen and find options, left click that and a box will appear, find audio click that and another box will display it has several tabs at the top the first is “general”,"

When I got to this part though, none of it was in the "general or advanced tabs"

you will see tow thin boxes that are named playback and record wave devices, they should contain the name of your sound card, if it does not then run the wave profiler again to see if it adds it. Once that is right set the buffer slider to around the middle to start with that will save another problem later. Go to the advanced tab and check the box “Always use the MME interface even when WDM drivers are available”

So, i don't know what is going on. I used to record with Sound Blaster Live, and I am usig those as my Input and output drivers. Could that be part of the problem??

    Thank you

That tutorial was made for MC 2003, with MC3 it does not have the same tabs, the record and playback boxes are there and those must contain the name of the sound card. The alway use box is now gone, so what one does is to select the driver mode in the driver mode box, close and reopen and see if it works.

Sound blaster will work fine if it is installed, if you are using another output then place it in the boxes rather than SB live
