analog with digital

Hello wizards of sound,
It's been a couple monthes since I've bothered you (because it's taken a while to get some $ for a decent sound card like the EMU-0404)to replace my SB.
My question is : Can I record a previous recording into the Music Creator from a tape via soundcard and add digital sounds to it?
I have a boatload of unfinished recordings that have some value that I would like to build on.
Thank you,
No Knot How.

you have to have some kind of interface from the tape machine to the computer sound card. what tape machine is it? what are it's outputs?

    Hello Beagle,
It's a Vestax (?) MR66 six track cassette recorder with 1/4" jacks all over the place.
It's quite a beautiful little antique. I've got adapters jacks.
Can I run, through an adapter, from the line out on the tape player into the sound card?
    Thank you.

Yes, the line in, not the mic in. Then you can add AUDIO effects to it, which I believe are digital Greg

YUP, what he said. it will take a while doing all six tracks separately, but you'll get much more control over the tracks once they're in digital format that way.

So if i run it from a 'send' on the Vestax into the 'line in' on the EMU I can record it digitally into a cakewalk file?
    That would be great!
    Thanks.

It will be digital AUDIO, but not MIDI, which some people mix up. And like the dog said, if you can record each of the cassette's tracks to different MC tracks, you can add different effects to each track. Experiment. Have fun. Greg
