Rapture - No Sound

Wow. To make my life as a new computer musician even more difficult, I now have no sound coming out of Rapture. I'm using Sonar 4 Home Studio as the host. When I open the Edirol Virtual Sound Canvas, it works. When I open Rapture, choose a patch, nothing. What a drag. I'm just about ready to chuck it all, write it off as a loss, (Sonar 4 HSXL - $100, M-Audio USB Midisport interface - $70, Rapture - $175, and Korg K25 - $100 - total $445) and go back to hardware sequencing and hardware modules.

This whole computer based music production thing is a total drag, complete frustration, and stomps completely on the creative spirit.

Yep learning a new instrument does take a tad bit of determination and stick to it through the small stuff. And you are right using a computer to do music does have a few drawbacks ;)+) But hey we all went through that, suffered throught the small frustrations and did the thing. I did the analog stuff for a long time. It works and can give ya what you want albet with a few drawbacks as well.

I find the frustrations more than small, however I do find the ROTI (return on time investment) very small, indeed. I would never use this stuff for a project that I needed to have done on a deadline.

Anyway, I figured out what was wrong - I hadn't registered Rapture, and so it "muted" itself. Went ahead and registered and everything's fine.

Still hasn't changed my opinion of the creativity stomp these devices cause.

Every thing in the box. Man what a time saver. You have more power in one good machine that all the high dollar recording studios in the 70's had with multimillion dollar investments. The trick is to learn to use it. It ain't easy but once you get over the hump you will not go back. I' not trade my setup for all the analog stuff ever built.
