Boy, that opening soundtrack sounds strangely familiar. That was cool, René, and really quite on-topic. Methods change, but the base information is still pretty relevant (except for those 5 1/4" floppies & teletype entry). I'd seen Part III before, but who was that second interviewee in Part I? Not Ussachevsky. Perhaps Milton Babbitt?

Does this mean that we'll be getting an oscilloscope display with the next revision of the Expression Engine?.

They also has a thing on the History channel about the first Moog synthesizer. The guy (not Moog - the other guy) couldn't give it away later on. And when he finally donated it to his old college (Hofstra) no-one wanted to use it.

They said the key (no pun intended) to its success was the decision to add a keyboard (black and whites). That took it into the realm of professional composers.

Nice. Couldn't find part 2. Maybe I missed a link somewhere.

Forwarded link to my old business partner. He was at Bezerkley doing this stuff in the late 70s, did his 1st degree in music and then talked his way into a Masters in Computer Science doing electronic music. Built his own hardware. Be interesting to get his take on it. He may recognise some of the people in it :)

    cheers

Thanks for the link. I really enjoyed that. I guess I can't help but take all of this technology for granted. I think we are very fortunate to live in an era of such advanced musical tools.
